Vietnam’s tank team competes in International Army Games in Russia

Vietnam competed in the qualifying round of the tank biathlon category within the framework of the International Army Games 2022 in Moskva, Russia on Saturday, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

This year’s tank biathlon event attracts the participation of 61 crews of 21 teams, divided into two groups.

The first group consists of teams from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Venezuela, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, China, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia, while the second is comprised of Abkhazia, Armenia, Zimbabwe, Iran, Laos, Mali, Myanmar, Syria, Sudan, Tajikistan, and South Ossetia.

Teams in Group 1 will compete in the qualifying round to select the top eight to enter the semi-final round and then the best four for the final round.

Meanwhile, those in Group 2 will only join a round-robin format.

Crew No.1 of the Vietnamese tank team completed their task on Saturday, destroying four targets out of five and finishing the race after 34 minutes 53 seconds.

Meanwhile, crews from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan annihilate all five targets and finished the race after 25 minutes 57 seconds, and 25 minutes and 18 seconds, respectively.

The Venezuelan rivals destroyed only one target and finished their competition after 47 minutes 5 seconds.
Crews No. 2 and 3 of the Vietnamese tank team will compete on August 16 and 20.

First held in 2015, the International Army Games are an annual Russian military sports event organized by the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

This year’s edition will run from August 13 to 27 at the military training grounds in twelve countries: Russia, Azerbaijan, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Venezuela, Vietnam, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan.

More than 260 teams from 35 countries join the 2022 Games.

— China remained Vietnam’s largest import market in the year to November, with a total turnover reaching an estimated US$99.6 billion, while the U.S. was the biggest buyer of Vietnamese products during the same period, with a turnover of some $88 billion, according to official data.

— Ho Chi Minh City attracted more than $3 billion of foreign direct investment in the January-November period this year, down 12.9 percent year on year, according to the city’s Statistics Office.

Belarus PM visits Hanoi relic, tastes Vietnamese coffee

The Belarusian PM is in Vietnam for a four-day official visit on Dec. 6-9.

Situated in the southern part of the Thang Long Citadel, the tower was built in 1805 and completed in 1812 during the reign of King Gia Long of the Nguyen Dynasty. The tower of 33 meters tall survived the French and American wars unscathed, and is the most spectacular site at the Thang Long Citadel.

After the flag tower tour, the two leaders moved to a nearby coffee shop to have drinks.

The two PMs sip Vietnamese coffee and enjoy banh mi.

The two had Vietnamese coffee and banh mi aside from cakes as they talked about Vietnamese food culture.

Other members of the Belarus’ delegation also had banh mi.

The two PMs sat across Lenin Park as they talked about the surrounding landscape, Vietnam’s history and foreign policy.

Before the tour to the flag tower, PM Chinh received PM Golovchenkoe in a welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace. The two leaders then held a talk at the palace.

Vietnam – Belarus established diplomatic relations in January 1992. The two countries inherited the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation that had existed between Vietnam and the Soviet Union.

They have maintained regular delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels.

The two PMs walked to the Government Office for a talk during which they discussed bilateral cooperation.

The two PMs witnessed as the two nations’ Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs Eugeny Shestakov (L) and Le Thi Thu Hang exchanged signed cooperation documents on visa waiver.

Belarus currently has three investment projects in Vietnam with a total capital of US$32.25 million, of which the most significant one is the MAZ Asia car assembling project in the northern Hung Yen Province.

Vietnam’s investment projects in Belarus are now worth a total US$810,000. The two sides are actively implementing the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), of which Belarus is a member.

Vietnam exports to Belarus seafood, natural rubber, furniture, textiles, footwear, rice, cashew nuts, peanuts, and pepper. Trade turnover between the two countries reached $113.9 million last year and stayed at $46.42 million in the first nine months this year
